More pictures...this time from the rehearsal

Brooke and Matt S.--Malachi met Matt while attending a vocational school to become a mechanic. Now, Matt's married to someone who used to work in nursing...in fact, she was planning to pursue that field at the same time that Christie was. Anyway, Matt is now a Fed-Ex guy and Malachi is a Marine...and Christie is not currently pursuing nursing as a career. Matt was one of the groomsmen. Unfortunately, I never did get a good picture of Matt and his wife. I did sit with them for dinner, but I didn't figure that it would be very polite to treat dinner like a photo shoot.;-)

Janet H., on the left, directed the wedding. She's a very talented wedding director and the only reason that we got started anywhere close to the target time for the wedding. The other ladies were the wedding musicians. Carrie B., on the back row, played the bridal processional and recessional on the organ. Sarah W., also on the back row (but on the right), played the violin for the processional for the wedding party. Jean G. (front left) and Bonnie W. played the flute and piano respectively with Sarah W. for the wedding party's processional. The next day, they got to repeat all the music for the church service--I guess anyone who missed the wedding at least got to hear the music. Even though it's not especially wedding music, it was kind of strange to hear those songs again after having heard them two evenings in a row for the wedding.=)

Melinda M. graciously assisted in the rehearsal as well as in the wedding. At the rehearsal, she took care of name tags...

Our pastor's wife (Bernie) is here talking to Melinda's daughter--Carrie, who is now married to Luke, who did the Keith Urban solo "Making Memories of Us" for the wedding.

Christie's dad (Steve) with his daughter Shannon, who was the photographer for the wedding. She got married in Tuscany last year, which is why Malachi and Christie ended up in Europe for three weeks at that time.=)

Natasha and Rebekah prepared to rehearse entering the church as flower girls. Christie waits in the background with her parents. My mom ordered a haku lei for her for the rehearsal and it was really pretty!

My flash is bad, but this was my opportunity to do what I would not be able to do during the wedding...so here it is. I knew I wouldn't get wedding pictures very soon after the wedding, so it is quite as well for me to have taken these.=) Anyway, there's Shannon in action...

Standing before the pastor as Christie's dad practices giving her away (what a moment to practice!)...

The vows pastor wasn't there, so they only rehearsed standing there and listening to the pastor's sermon for a little while. LOL! See Gabriel on the right? He had an interesting time during the rehearsal.

Here my mom leads Gabriel up to the front. We tried many different ways of getting him up there, but he would always practically die before getting to the front. His knees would buckle and his head would drop...after the pillow had (but not for his head or anything). It was actually hilarious and cute...but not entirely appropriate for the situation! So he had some more help as the rehearsal went on...

The girls decided to walk with him, which is what they ended up doing for the wedding...only they practically dragged him down the aisle then!

Here the parents sit and observe...I mean practice sitting in their reserved seats.=D

In the foyer when Grandma and Grandpa and the rest of the family arrive. My grandmother didn't realize that she had to practice being seated.;-) LOL! She did arrive in time for the second practice, though, and it really wasn't a problem anyway...since it was more that the ushers needed practice than that she did.

There's Clifton holding the ring pillow...we didn't practice with the actual rings, but they were on the pillow for the wedding. Our pastor said that was the first time he had seen the real rings on the pillow. LOL! He seemed a little worried about it, too, which cracked me up. Why have a ringbearer if he's not going to bear the rings? I mean, what could have happened? It's not like Gabriel was going to run off...the worst thing he could or would do was collapse and let someone come and pick him up. LOL! But as it happened...the girls simply took him up there to their spot, my brother got the pillow from Gabriel and gave it to Clifton, and then somehow Gabriel was seated...I don't know how because I was watching for the bride by that point.

This was the lei my mom ordered for my brother. Oh, and those clothes he was wearing were new...purchased [and ironed] right before the rehearsal. Fun, huh? LOL! We did so much last minute...like those programs that I needed everyone to approve on the day of the wedding. Well, that wasn't the last thing I did on the computer...my brother scanned pictures for a slide show and I got them into PowerPoint barely in time to take the computer to the church and set it up before we had other responsibilities at the church.
The boys on the bench there are Barnabas (my 11 y.o. brother), Victor (10), and Caleb (11)--the last two are cousins from Nebraska, Sonja's younger brothers by her mom.

We had shoyu chicken, jasmine rice, pineapple, carrots, and green beans for the rehearsal dinner...with tapioca (with real pearls, coconut milk, and turbinado sugar), cheesecake, and butterfly sugar cookies for dessert. The people who helped us were WONDERFUL!

The table decorations for the rehearsal dinner...

And a macro shot of the decorations...

Rebekah and Natasha eating together

Shannon seated with many from the wedding party...that's Dr. Murphy (Ann-Phyllis's dad) in the background serving drinks to everyone...

Brothers and cousins at the table...with helpers in the background...

The head table...

Dr. Murphy announcing that the orchids were to take home...

Some kind young ladies washing dishes in the kitchen...
And that concludes my photos of the rehearsal...but I know that Ann-Phyllis got some excellent ones.=D
