God is Faithful
Jan. 17th, 2003 09:59 pmOn the Thursday of my prayer list for the week, I listed three things for which I am thankful...salvation, God's faithfulness, and God's goodness. Of course, there are many more things, but those are three I like to keep in mind.
Tomorrow, I am planning to attend a wedding shower for a couple planning to be married next month. The neat thing is, they're a little older than a lot of people who are marrying for the first time. He, a guy from our church, is 38 years old, and his bride-to-be must be somewhere in that age range.
Now, I realize people from our church may be reading this (and they are welcome to comment and correct if necessary)...but I just wanted to mention what I know, because it may be an encouragement to some of you. All of what I have seen of this guy is contentment, yet with a clear desire to marry if the Lord so led. He wanted to be ready, realizing that the skills desirable for a marriage relationship would be useful anyway. So, he did prepare for marriage.
He also served the Lord faithfully as a single man. Part of this was in the everyday things of life, but he also went on short-term missions trips. One of these trips was to South Korea, where he met a lady...and knew that she was "The One." Apparently, she had been praying for someone whose description he fit very well. God faithfully brought them together.
Now, I know some singles who are in their late twenties, others in their thirties, and still more in their forties. I so admire the ones who want to marry, and yet are content to serve the Lord however He directs in their season of singleness. Many of the singles I know will never marry, but I pray that the ones who desire to will someday have that opportunity, and I have seen (not just in the testimony of this couple) that God is faithful to provide, but that He also runs on His own schedule.
I don't know why I had to tell everyone that, but that's my thought for the evening, so goodnight everyone!=)
