Apr. 12th, 2002 01:00 amI Sam. 17:4, "And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span."The Philistines were replying on a MAN (albeit a large one) for VICTORY. Is that pagan or what? And yet…how often do we trust in people and visible, physical things for our own safety?
I Sam. 17:16…Goliath made his challenge for FORTY DAYS. Is there any correlation to other such time periods in Scripture?
I Sam. 17:37…David was depending on GOD'S power to defeat the Philistines, not on a huge or strong man. His faith was so strong that he was willing to fight Goliath.
I Sam. 17:42-44…Talk about a proud giant! Goliath did not realize that his reckoning would be with the GOD WHO CREATED THE UNIVERSE.
I Sam. 17:50…David's weapon was a sling (with a stone). He did not even have a sword to compete with Goliath!
