I know I've heard flirting defined as any way in which you convey a romantic interest in someone...other than a situation "authorized" by God's leading you into marriage. I'm not sure if that gives enough specifics, though.
Is the real concern whether or not you are flirting? Or should we think more in terms of glorifying the Lord through guarding ours and our brothers' hearts. I have noticed that there may be times for us to avoid something completely innocent on our side...because it could be misinterpreted. Now I'm talking within reason...not because somebody starts making up rules for us. I'm basically saying that any interest shown in a guy who has a crush on you could be read as a return of his interest...and, of course, we need to be very careful.
I've also noticed that some girls are more "bubbly" with guys and gals than other girls are. Here I bow out to someone who has such a personality, because I do not...and I'm not sure where one might cross the line under those circumstances. Make sure you do right before God and by your brothers (in Christ...and other guys in the world) and yourself, and...acknowledge the Lord in all your ways, for He WILL direct your paths (Proverbs 3:6).
