All right...
Apr. 9th, 2005 10:32 pmI guess I'm going to have to rent a movie to do one of my assignments for World Literature II. You see, I'm not big on giving presentations unnecessarily...nor do I want to go to two plays to do performance reviews...because that latter option would take two whole evenings plus my writing time. I didn't want to watch a movie, either, because that's tiring, but writing two of the optional papers...well, one I can write as a literature comparison (comparing multiple works), but the other has to be in line with this.
I liked the story of Ivan Ilych. Actually, I think I like Tolstoy...I got rid of Ana Karenina after I read it once because I didn't think I needed to read it twice, but Tolstoy's a good author! He seems to paint a morally realistic picture of life. And I think it would be great to write about how culture's dictates--both in Russia then and in America now (its pertinence to our lives) tend to leave us empty at the end of our lives. However, I do have to have a source of information from both sides, so I suppose I will have to rent the movie. Have any of you ever watched American Beauty? I guess I'll go and rent it sometime...although I'm not sure when I'll watch it.=\ I have to take the CAAP exam sometime on Saturday. Hmm. Maybe I should figure out what time that is. Of course, that doesn't keep me from doing anything on Friday night. I guess I should watch the movie then.=) Good idea, huh? I don't have time to study for the CAAP exam.=|
Oh, well. And I should be doing schoolwork right now, but I haven't felt very motivated today. I wrote a long letter to a friend in Hawaii and then I started a letter to my brother. I wrote most of my journal entries for my American Literature II class (M/W). I started working on a take-home exam for my World Literature II class...but the exam isn't due until a week from Monday, I think, so it's a lower priority. I do have to turn in an article review for one class on Monday night...so I should start looking for the article, since it has to fit into one of six categories. That should actually make my life simpler, though. I should just do three articles since I have to turn in three ultimately...and the portfolio (which I'm nowhere near finishing) will be due soon enough. Speaking of portfolios, my Wellness Concepts portfolio is due in a week and a half and I'm nowhere near finished with it. I have like 11 lab activities to complete for it.=\ They include testing physical strength and flexibility. That should be lots of fun!=)
Okay...I'd really better get started...=\ There's more, but...listing it isn't getting it done.
ETA: After watching the trailer for "American Beauty," I'm thinking a more...um...conservative movie might be better. Do you all have any ideas? The theme of the movie needs to be a guy who gets to the end of his life and realizes that having lived according to his culture's ideals has left him with a sense of complete meaninglessness in life. The movie doesn't have to be perfect...I mean, I've pretty much given up on finding that...but something a little bit better than "American Beauty" would be nice and I can't think of a good one off-hand.=)
