They'll Know We Are Christians by Our Love
Oct. 5th, 2002 09:32 pm"They'll Know We Are Christians by Our Love"
1. We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord,
We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord,
And we pray that all unity may one day be restored:
And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love,
Yes, they'll know we are Christians by our love.
2. We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand,
We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand,
And together we'll spread the news that God is in our land:
And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love,
Yes, they'll know we are Christians by our love.
3. We will work with each other, we will work side by side,
We will work with each other, we will work side by side,
And we'll guard each one's dignity and save each one's pride:
And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love,
Yes, they'll know we are Christians by our love.
4. All praise to the Father, from whom all things come,
And all praise to Christ Jesus, His only Son,
And all praise to the Spirit, who makes us oe:
And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love,
Yes, they'll know we are Christians by our love.

I know y'all are going to think this is really sappy, but I think that would be a great song for Christian couples to apply in their marriages. The song (words and music by Peter Scholtes, and based on John 13:35) obviously refers to the fellowship of believers, but think how much the church would be changed if husbands and wives related to each other in this way! I saw several examples of that today (at the political rally), and it was really neat!
I know it's easy for me to develop a negative attitude towards marriage, and I can't help being amazed when couples are still in love with each other after so long--the love having grown rather than diminished because its foundation was laid in their relationship with the Savior. I'm sure the husbands must have some imperfections, but you'd never know it to hear these wives talk of them! All I can say is, Cool!!!;-) God is good!
